The Summer Fayre takes place on Sunday, 1st July between 2.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. Entry is FREE!
At the Summer Fayre, you will be able to buy sausage rolls, cakes and scones and wash those down with tea, coffee or light refershments. When it all gets too hot and you feel like something a little stronger to drink, there will be beer from the Long Man brewery and Pimms on offer. And let's not forget the children aged from 6 months to 90 years: there will be an ice cream van.
There will be entertainment provided by The Seaford Strummers, a local ukulele band of note. They are not to be confused with The Seafood Strummers (as one committee member tried to call them).
Wandering around the site will be Kris Singh, a close up magician. Marvel at his legerdemain, whatever that might be. This is always assuming he can make his way past the tug of war competition (if enough of you can be persuaded to join in the fun) and the fencing demonstration, with the opportunity to try a spot of epee under the watchful eye of a member of the gold medal winning Eastbourne Fencing Team (at which tounament I am not allowed to disclose).
There will be stalls, including:-
- an HVS stall, to let you know of the activities which are organised by the Hankham Village Society and to ask you for your views on what we are doing and what you would like to see us doing;
- an HVS gardening stall for the sale of plants;
- home produce stall;
- children's colouring competition;
- fun stalls, including "Play your cards right" and a putting (as in golf) hole. Prizes on offer here;
- and more are being booked up.
No Summer Fayre would be complete without a raffle, and ours will be complete. Tickets can be bought only at the Fayre, and prizes will be announced on the day, but if the Hankham Great Get Together is anything to go by, the prizes will make it worth your while buying whole books of tickets.
Profits from the Summer Fayre will be split 50:50 between the Hankham Village Society and Project Art Works, a charity which provides art based therapy for those with complex medical needs and learning difficulties. To find out more about the work of Project Art Works, please go to http://projectartworks.org/.
Please come along and bring family, friends and stragglers. It will be a great experience, and another opportunity to get to talk to more people in the village.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE - Can we have volunteers to make cakes and scones and to provide home produce for the home produce store, without which we would not have a home produce stall. What made the Hankham Great Get Together such a success last year was the generosity of the residents of Hankham donating goodies for all to enjoy. To volunteer, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
